The 1000 was cheaper than the PCjr and more compatible with the IBM Personal Computer! Also, the 1000 was sold directly to customers at Radio Shack. The HX version shown here was popular due to its cheaper price tag and compact design. The 3.5? floppy drive was gaining in popularity, so software was easy to find in 1987.
