Amateur Radio Activities

As stated in our club’s mission statements, our most important Amateur Radio activity is engaging the public during museum hours.  Our goal is to make that engagement desirable to the public and to you, as a member of the VRCMCT ARC.   Being on station for one hour a month can make a difference in the lives of those who are seeking knowledge.  You can be that person who creates a positive impact on the lives of others, through Amateur Radio.

  • Operate station W1VCM, during museum hours.

  • Use a modern, state-of-the art transceiver.   Don’t worry, we will train you.

  • Interact with the public; explain Amateur Radio in laymen's terms.

  • Evaluate and if warranted, repair Amateur Radio related equipment, for eBay resale; proceeds go to the support of the museum and in turn, our club. Item description

  • Boat Anchors Welcome!  Our club is part of a museum; we embrace, uphold and preserve antique and vintage radio equipment.  All boat anchors are appreciated.  We have a mix of old and new equipment at Amateur Radio Station, W1VCM, and have a large collection of vintage Amateur Radio equipment on display and in storage at the museum.

On-Air Events

W1VCM is on the air occasionally during on-air operating events, such as ARRL Field Day, DX contests, the AM Rally and antique radio operating events scheduled by other radio museums.  This is a great time to demonstrate Amateur Radio to the public, as there are many communication opportunities to be had, usually from faraway places.
